I found a little note

I found a little note, jotted down last month, in a moment of fury and tension regarding my work —it’s an unsatisfied feeling I’ve had all year. I have a need to be more bold with my process, more natural, less exact. This is a start:

Can I paint the essence of those moments I feel connected

Those experiences, the ones that are alive

Can I challenge myself to paint beyond the observation

The movement - is it around me or am I moving through it 

The energy - is it fast or slow 

The focus - is it narrow or broad

Maybe there is a small detail to build from or build into 

Like a chunk or glacier or outline of a tree or water ripple or lichen (of course)

Balance - where is the center 

Is it where you expect to be
